If you wish to discover the local area during your stay at Buckland Manor, there’s plenty to entertain you. Close at hand are Batsford Arboretum and many delightful Cotswold towns and villages such as: Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water. Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick Castle, Oxford, Blenheim Palace and the elegant city of Bath are all within easy reach.

Then, of course, there's Cheltenham, only a short lovely drive away, a magnificent town with beautiful regency buildings and many world famous festivals including Cheltenham International Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Festival of Science and the Wychwood Festival. Other great attractions nearby include the Cotswold Olympick Games, Kemble Air Day, Chipping Campden Music Festival, Longborough Festival Opera and the Cheltenham Gold Cup at Cheltenham Racecourse. Dates for 2012 March 13th - 16th.

Antiques: The best location is Stow-on-the-Wold, a very pretty market town, with a broad selection of Antique shops, good parking in the main square, and plenty to see and do.

Cotswold Villages: Buckland is one of the prettiest Cotswolds villages and you can explore with only a short walk, located nearby there are many others. Perhaps a car drive towards Chipping Campden may take your fancy. Taking in Stanway, Stanton and Snowshill, definitely the most unspoilt, beautiful villages you can imagine, Chipping Campden offers you some eclectic shops and very good tea rooms. Broadway, Burford and Bibury are also well worth a detour.

Gardens: Hidcote is the best known, tucked behind Chipping Campden and is open over the weekend. Snowshill Manor and Gardens are open on Saturday and Sunday.

Houses: Blenheim is an obvious choice, about a 30 minute drive into the small town of Woodstock. Chaselton House, one of the finest Jacobean houses in the country is situated a few miles out of Moreton-in-Marsh. Sudeley Castle and Gardens, outside Winchcombe is spectacular.

Farm Shop: Daylesford Organic, a couple of miles outside Stow-on-the-Wold is well worth a visit. The farm shop and café are outstanding, as is the garden shop, tea tasting room and or course Lady Bamford’s own range of clothes.

Children: Cotswold Farm Park is a must and only 5 miles from the hotel. Bourton-on-the-Water gives you ‘Birdland’, Dragon Fly Maze, Model Railway and Motor Museum.
